Talent

This past weekend after C-Donkey and myself got our pictures taken surfing Southside, we couldn't find Da Gouge when we met back at the surfmobile. So after waiting for some time we wondered if he was hurt or just catching waves. We decided to walk on the pier to look for him surfing the left. Guess who we found instead? Sixpack Nic on his stilts, blowing up ballons for the kids with a crowd of people around him. People were actually asking me to take a group photo of them with Sixpack Nic. Maybe the ladies just wanted a picture of his body. Oh yeah, we found Da Gouge getting out of the water.

Surfboard Philosophy 101

Think about this! If you have more foam on your shortboard you will paddle more efficiently, easier, and faster. This will result in catching more waves and catching waves sooner. If you catch a wave sooner you will be able to set up your turns, smacks, snaps, wacks, and gouges for the entire wave at the more critical steeper sections. Leaving you even more stoked than ever before on your surfing. No more chasing the section or getting stuck behind it, sometimes. So don't be afraid of a little more foam, the foam is your friend!!!

You're waiting for a nice overhead set and when it comes you're not in position, but second in line. What do you do, burn the guy on the gun, or wait for another set? Obviously I passed and decided not to burn the guy unlike the other guy in the blue wetsuit. After seeing this picture in the OC Register I wished I would of gone!!! Oh yeah, check out who is on the shoulder, C-Donkey.

A 60 Mile Adventure

Which wave do you want to surf, the right or the left?

If you picked the right, you would have been barreled beyond your imagination, but be ready to kick out just in time not to get annihilated by the end of a 15 foot mutant of white water exploding on dry reef.

If you picked the left, you might of thought from 300 yards away in the boat "it's not huge" and rode your shortboard. You probably would of been scared to death of the 100 yard paddle over prime great white ambush territory. Dropping in on your first wave you would of realized you brought out the wrong board and are way under gunned, in fact the right board is 60 miles away in the garage. What do you do?
